Japanese Phrase Card

Description

Blue Funnel ships visited Japan many times both prior to and after WW2, often as part of their Far East trade routes which also included Hong Kong, Singapore and China.

Japanese ports such as Yokohama, Kobe, and Nagoya were also regular destinations for the ships.

Crew members would usually enjoy a ‘run ashore’ and would visit local bars, cafes and restaurants in the ports they sailed into. Many of these premises would issue these small phrase cards as a way of promoting their business. This card was provided by the Union Cafe/Restaurant of Nagasaki.
