Model of Horse Drawn Timber Carriage, Denbighshire, c.1900

Description

Horse Drawn Timber Carriages were used to carry felled timber from woodland to Sawmills. Model scale one and half inches to one foot. Measured from the original at Erdding Hall near Wrexham. In this case the vehicle was used to move timber to the Sawpit on the Erddig estate for sawn timber to be used for estate maintenance or furniture making. It would not be unusual for vehicles such as this to be drawn by teams of up to six heavy Horses.
