British Army soldiers climbing in West Germany
Description
This is a copy of an original photograph that British Army Veteran Dave Tomlinson possesses. The photograph shows a group of British BAOR Soldiers climbing high mountains in the German Alps. This short expedition shows soldiers traversing a cliff face, using fixed metal rods that German Climbers had fixed earlier in the season on the Zugspitze mountain, a 2.962 meter giant. David was part of this expedition and it is believed the photograph dates to the early 1980s. More material about David's experience in the Army can be viewed online in the David Tomlinson collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the People collection Wales website.
