The West Wales Veterans' Archive
The West Wales Veterans' Archive (WWVA) managed by Age Cymru Dyfed was supported by a grant award from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust between 2020-2022. The National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded a grant in 2025 to collect stories of National Service from Veterans in Mid and West Wales.
This pioneering archive for the West Wales region is authoritative, publicly accessible and sustainable. It has become a valuable learning resource for historians, researchers, schools, colleges and family historians. The Archive is located on the People's Collection Wales website within the National Library of Wales and holds accounts provided by armed forces Veterans aged 50yrs+ who live or have lived in Mid or West Wales.
Viewers will see items appearing periodically, as new material is published. The collections contain video and audio interviews, narratives and photographs.
The West Wales Veterans Archive has twice won the Community Archives and Heritage Group Award, most recently in November 2024.
