Aftermath of a battle in Burma during World War Two

Description

This is a copy of a photograph that belongs to Nigel Hopkins, an RAF Veteran from Aberystwyth, Wales. The photograph captures the aftermath of a battle between British forces and the imperial Japanese Army in Burma during world war two. The image was captured shortly after Japanese soldiers were forced from these defensive positions. The photograph belongs to David Hopkins, known as Gareth, who was Nigel's father. Gareth served as an admin clerk with the British Army during the Burma campaign and moved behind the advancing British forces. Gareth or one of his colleagues can just be seen in the photograph, inspecting the positions. Gareth was required to collect material from positions overtaken by the advancing British forces, which was either discarded or lost by British troops or left behind by the Japanese troops retreating from the battlefield.
