This is an oil painting by British Army Veteran Bruce McKay of Gwynedd. Bruce served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, taking part in the advance through northern Germany between 1944 and 1948. Bruce took to painting on his semi remote farm, which offered him a cathartic release. Bruce started farming after the war and specialized in keeping rare breeds of cattle and sheep. Bruce is in fact a founder member and current honorary chairman of the Ancient Cattle of Wales Society at time of publishing.
