Interview with Phil Bale on involvement with the Reservoir Action Group
Description
Phil Bale was elected as a Councillor in the Llanishen Ward in May 2012 and went on to become leader of Cardiff Council from 2014 to 2017. He became actively involved in the campaign by the Reservoir Action Group to save Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs. Most significantly in August 2013, Phil took it upon himself, as a local elected representative, to visit the American Company that owned Western Power: the Pennsylvania Power and Light Corporation (PPL). He wanted to make it clear to its senior management that Western Power’s development plans were opposed by local people, Cardiff Council and the Welsh Government. In this interview with Richard Cowie, Phil describes his involvement with the reservoir campaign and his visit to PPL.
