Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints first arrived in the British Isles in 1837 and first preached in Wales in 1840. In this article, Dr Dennis describes the exponential growth in the number of converts to this new faith during the 1840s, under the influence of Captain Dan Jones, culminating in the emigration of over 300 Welsh converts in 1849 and again in 1856.
