This plaque was installed in 2004 by American descendants of Richard T. Jones whose parents kept the Cross Hands Inn in the mid-1800s. Jones had converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1846 and emigrated to America in 1850. It should be noted however, that at that date the Cross Hands Inn did not stand at its current location but on the other side of the road. That original building has since been demolished.
