Valleys Kids has harnessed the power of the Arts to deliver ‘out of the ordinary’ transformational initiatives, over and above our regular core work. The ethos was one of engaging the disengaged and the disenfranchised both young and old in creative and imaginative ways. Not all children and young people wanted to act or perform. Our challenge was to explore other means by which to draw them in and broaden their horizons.
We were successful in developing profitable relationships with key businesses who provided sponsorship, which was increased by the contribution of match funding from Arts & Business Cymru, whose purpose was to persuade corporates of the power of the Arts. This gave rise to a plethora of CREATIVITY embracing: films, exhibitions, craft workshops, visual arts, which served to NURTURE TALENT through unique participatory experiences and ENGAGED disadvantaged children, young people and adults. All this, whilst raising the profile of our work, enhancing the reputation of business and their staffs’ ENGAGEMENT in their local community and promoting sustainability.
