Linda Norris

I am an artist based in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, making work rooted in landscape. I am a painter and work across a number of other media including glass and cyanotype.

My work has received several awards, including the Warm Glass Prize (2012). I have exhibited widely, with work selected twice for the British Glass Biennale. In 2020, I completed an MA module in Art and Archaeology at UHI Orkney, and my current practice explores how landscape can reveal traces of the past and those who came before.

Alongside making work for exhibition, I also undertakes commissions for architectural contexts. I have made glass for the gates at Strata Florida Abbey and for Skokholm Island. In 2012 I formed Studio Melyn, an architectural glass partnership, with Rachel Phillips. Together we have made stained glass windows and installations for a number of public historic sites in Wales including Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon Castles.

I am currently developing new work for my project Material Traces. This work was sparked by the discovery of a Bronze Age burial urn on Skokholm Island in 2021, prompting a deeper investigation into the long relationship between people, landscape, and material culture in Wales.
