Vyron Thomas - National Service The Welch Regiment 1957 to 1959
This is a collection of material that relates to British Army Veteran Vyron Thomas of Glanamman, Carmarthenshire. Vyron was conscripted into the Army for National Service in 1957 and assigned to The Welch Regiment. Having completed training courses at Brecon and Cardiff, Vyron travelled by Troopship to Cyprus, where he joined up with the regiment. Vyron remained with the regiment for the remainder of its tour of duty in Cyprus and subsequent peacekeeping deployment to Libya. With his term of National Service complete, he left the Army, as the regiment returned to the UK in 1959.
