Model of a Horse Drawn Hay Sweep, Denbighshire, c. 1890's
Description
Horse Drawn Hay Sweep measured from the original at Felin Isaf Mill, Glan Conwy, Denbighshire. Scale of model 1" to 1 ft. The Hay Sweep is thought to date from c.1895. A plate attached stated Thomas Jones, Llanrwst, thought to be the supplier. Drawn by one horse, in use when sufficient hay was collected on the front tines, the load could be released by the driver pulling the handles slightly apart, which freed the rear tines and allowed the Sweep to rotate forwards.
