This is a photograph taken of Bruce McCay in his Home Guard uniform in the garden of his home in Sutton, Surrey, taken in April 1944. Later in 1944, Bruce would transfer from the Home Guard into the Royal Welch Fusiliers and take part in several battles to cross the rivers Rhine, Weser and Aller in Germany during the advance through Germany between February and April 1945.
