Royal Navy boy sailors HMG Ganges Mast demonstration circa 1955 to 56
Description
This is a copy of a photograph which was captured as boy Sailors undertook a demonstration of co ordinated movements on the ships mast that was a permanent feature on the parade ground at HMG Ganges in the 1950s. Sailors can be seen parading in formation on the parade square, so this may have been an official passing out parade or open day at the school. Royal Navy Sailor Gwyn Davies took part in this event and retained this photograph throughout his life, which now remains in the family. A narrative account of Gwyn's naval career can be read and photographs viewed in Gwyn's online collection at the West Wales Veterans archive at the People's Collection Wales website.
