Scientific Name:Coprinopsis lagopus
Fungi facts:This fungus grows on wood chip, dung and rotting vegetable matter. The young fruit body resembles the paw of a white rabbit – hence the common name ‘harefoot mushroom’ It is very short lived lasting only a few hours during which time the cap liquefies into a ‘black ink’ which is due to the millions of blue-black spores of the fungus contained in the liquid.
