This is a photograph of the New Testament that was gifted to RAF Photographer Nigel Hopkisn by his father David Gareth Owen Hopkins. David, known as Gareth, served with the British Army in Burma during WW2 and carried this particular New Testament with him throughout the campaign. Nigel took the New Testament with him when he joined the RAF in 1975 and remembers it accompanying him on a tour of active service in Northern Ireland in 1979. The childish writing on the front was written in by Nigel as a child. Nigel's memoirs of his service in the RAF, supported my photographs, can be viewed on line in the Nigel Hopkins RAF collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the Peoples Collection Wales website.
