Bernard Phillips - British Army National Service 1951 - 1953

This is a collection of material relating to British Army Veteran Bernard Phillips of Llanelli. Bernard was conscripted in 1952 and joined The Welch Regiment. He completed his training in Brecon, Powys and boarded a troopship destined for Hong Kong. After a short period of training in Japan, in 1953 he arrived in Korea, where he joined the regiment on the front line. He remained in Korea for nine months, before sailing back to the UK via Hong Kong. This collection contains films of an interview with Bernard, a narrative account and photographs. This material supports the work of the West Wales Veterans Archive National Service project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund
